Dragon Tiger: Rules, Odds and Where to Play the Live Card Game in India

Dragon Tiger at a glance

Dragon Tiger came out of the casinos of Cambodia and reached live-dealer studios around 2018, when Evolution put a table on camera and Ezugi followed. It is baccarat reduced to its simplest possible form: one card per side, no drawing rules, no commission, and a result every twenty-five seconds. In India it sits on the same live shelf as andar bahar and teen patti, and it is searched more than either of the studio names that make it, which is why the top of the search results is full of apps that borrow the name without the game.

How to play Dragon Tiger: five steps

   Open a live table. Log in to a casino with an Evolution or Ezugi live lobby and open Dragon Tiger. Most lobbies run more than one table; pick the one whose minimum bet suits your balance, not the one with the biggest crowd.

   Bet during the betting window. A timer counts down, usually ten to fifteen seconds. Put chips on Dragon, Tiger, Tie or Suited Tie before it ends. You can bet on more than one position, though there is no reason to.

   Watch two cards. The dealer draws one card face up for Dragon, then one for Tiger. The higher rank wins. Ace is the lowest card and King the highest, so a Two beats an Ace and a King beats everything.

   Collect or lose. A winning Dragon or Tiger bet pays even money. A Tie pays 11 to 1 on the Tie bet, and Dragon and Tiger bets lose half their stake. A Suited Tie, same rank and same suit, pays 50 to 1 on that bet.

   Set a limit before the next round. The next betting window opens the moment the cards are cleared. At twenty-five seconds a round the game plays 140 rounds an hour, which is the only fact on this page that matters for your balance.

Bets, payouts and what a tie does

The tie rule is the part most players get wrong. Dragon and Tiger do not push on a tie the way a baccarat bet pushes; they lose half. That half is where the 3.73 per cent edge comes from, because the two main bets are otherwise a coin flip with even money on both sides. Remove the half-loss and the game would pay 100 per cent, which is why no casino removes it.

The real odds and RTP

Everything above comes from one shoe of eight decks, 416 cards. Two cards are drawn. The chance that the second card matches the rank of the first is 31 in 415, or 7.47 per cent, because 31 cards of that rank remain. The other 92.53 per cent of rounds split evenly between Dragon and Tiger, 46.26 per cent each. Put a rupee on Dragon: you win one 46.26 times in a hundred, lose one 46.26 times, and lose half 7.47 times. That nets out at a loss of 3.73 paise per rupee, and the return to player is 96.27 per cent.

The Tie bet looks generous at 11 to 1 and is not. It wins 7.47 per cent of the time, so per hundred rupees staked you collect 11 rupees 7.47 times, 82 rupees, and lose the other 92.53. The return is 89.64 per cent, a house edge of 10.36, almost three times the cost of the main bets. Suited Tie needs the same rank and the same suit, seven matching cards among 415, 1.69 per cent, and at 50 to 1 returns 86.02 per cent. It is the most expensive bet on the table by a distance.

Two things follow. First, Dragon and Tiger are identical bets; there is no reason to prefer one, and the results road that shows a run of Dragons tells you nothing about the next card. Second, the game's published 96.27 per cent is real but it is an average over millions of rounds. Your session can be anything, and at 140 rounds an hour it will be a wide anything.

Evolution, Ezugi, Lightning and the other versions

Evolution's table is the reference: a fast, bare studio table with the four bets above and a results road down the side, and it is the version most rupee casinos put first in the lobby. Ezugi runs the game from studios that also deal the teen patti and andar bahar tables most Indian players use, with the same core payouts and, on some tables, extra side bets on the card being big or small, odd or even, or a particular suit. Pragmatic Play Live and Playtech each have a version with the same main-bet maths. What changes between them is the studio, the dealer, the pace of the betting window and the side-bet menu; what does not change is the 3.73 per cent on Dragon and Tiger, because all of them use eight decks and the half-loss on a tie.

Lightning Dragon Tiger

Evolution's second table looks like the first with a storm on top, and it is a different bet. Every wager pays a 20 per cent Lightning fee, and in return one or more cards each round are struck with a random multiplier: a winning Dragon or Tiger pays from even money up to 8 to 1, a Tie from 6.5 to 1 up to 416 to 1, and a Suited Tie from 20 to 1 up to 1,280 to 1. Half the main bet still comes back on a tie. The base payouts are lower than on the standard table, the ceilings far higher, and the fee is meant to balance out against the multipliers on average; what changes for you is the variance, which is much wider. The panel inside the game shows the return for each bet. If the table in front of you says Lightning and pays 6.5 to 1 on Tie, you are on this one, and the 11 to 1 figures above do not apply.

The one number to check before betting is not the studio but the tie payout. A table paying 8 to 1 on the Tie instead of 11 to 1 exists in some land-based and unlicensed versions, and it raises the house edge on that bet to over 32 per cent. Every standard licensed live table pays 11 to 1; the Lightning variant is the exception, and it says so in the table name.

The Dragon Tiger apps on Google Play are not this game

Search the name and the first results are apps: Google Play, Softonic, Aptoide, "Dragon vs Tiger" with a promise of earning money. None of them is the live game. They fall into two groups. The first is social casino apps with play money, which are honest about it and pay nothing. The second is unlicensed real-money apps, often built around "earn cash" or referral schemes, with no published odds, no studio behind the cards and no regulator behind the payouts. This second group is where most of the Dragon Tiger complaints in India come from: withdrawals that need a referral quota first, balances that vanish after an update, and an app that disappears from the store with the money in it.

The live game has no standalone app. It runs inside a casino's lobby, dealt by a studio that publishes its return and is audited for it, and you reach it by installing the casino's own app or opening its site. If a download calls itself the Dragon Tiger app and asks for money, that is the tell.

• The real table shows a studio name, Evolution or Ezugi, and a table ID; an app with neither is not it.
• Tie pays 11 to 1 and Suited Tie 50 to 1 on the real table. Different numbers mean different maths, usually worse.
• A real table can be watched without betting. An app that wants a deposit before it shows you a round has nothing to show.
• Earnings, referrals, daily bonuses for inviting friends: these are the mechanics of a scheme, not of a card game.

Strategy: what works and what is sold

What works

Three things, and all of them are about the bankroll rather than the cards. Bet Dragon or Tiger only, because they are the cheapest bets on the table and the only ones under 4 per cent. Pick the lowest-limit table you can find, because at 140 rounds an hour the stake size decides how long the balance lasts far more than any decision you make. And set the loss you can afford before the first round, because the betting window reopens before you have finished thinking about the last one.

What is sold

Card counting is the respectable-sounding one. In theory the Tie bet becomes slightly better when the shoe is rich in a few ranks, and a counter tracking the whole shoe could find moments where it edges past even. In practice the shoe is eight decks with a cut card well before the end, the edge appears rarely and is tiny when it does, and the casino shuffles long before it gets interesting. Nobody makes money counting Dragon Tiger.

Pattern betting is the popular one: bet Tiger after three Dragons, follow the road, chase the streak. The results road is history, not information. Each round is a fresh draw from a shoe of over four hundred cards, and a run of Dragons changes the next card's odds by less than a tenth of a per cent. Martingale, doubling after each loss, runs into the same wall it runs into everywhere: a run of eight outright losses happens about once every 480 rounds at these odds, ties on top, which at 140 rounds an hour is roughly every three and a half hours, and it costs 255 base stakes when it lands.

Prediction apps and Telegram signal groups sell the same thing they sell for Aviator: a number with a countdown attached. The card does not exist until it leaves the shoe. Anything that claims to know it beforehand is guessing, and the business model is the subscription or the referral link, not the prediction.

Where to play Dragon Tiger in India

The game needs a live lobby with Evolution or Ezugi tables and, for most players here, a rupee balance so that the minimum bet is in the money you actually have. Two apps on our list meet both conditions.

Dragon Tiger vs Baccarat, Andar Bahar and Teen Patti

Dragon Tiger is the fastest of the four and the most expensive of the two-sided ones. Baccarat's banker bet is three times cheaper per rupee; the price of Dragon Tiger is that it plays three times as many rounds an hour, so the money moves faster in both directions. If you want the simplest possible live table, this is it. If you want the cheapest, it is baccarat's banker, and the rest of the lobby is somewhere in between.

Legal status and responsible play

Since May 1, 2026 every online money game is banned in India under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 and its 2026 Rules, and a live card game with real stakes is covered no matter how the operator describes it. The stated enforcement target is operators, advertisers and payment intermediaries, not players, but the ban removes every protection you had over a balance at an offshore casino, and winnings are taxed at 30 per cent from the first rupee with nothing deducted at source.
